Alex MacLean : Dinghies Clustered Around Dock
This picture was shot from an aerial point of view. This photo is not balanced. This meets the guideline of rule of thirds vertically. The clear focal point of this photo would be the boats. The black water does not distract from the subject. This photograph is horizontal and I think it is more effective this direction than it would be vertically. I think the photograph successfully leads the viewers eye through the photo, it starts at the focal point of the photo, the boats, and takes you off of the dock. I think whats most successful about this photo is the various colors of the boats and their placement. The boats are scattered in just the right places. I think the only thing that could improve this photo would be to not have the rocks in the bottom right of the picture.
